From Xamarin to MAUI: Modernizing Mobile Applications

Moving from Xamarin.Forms to .NET MAUI is a strategic step to future-proof your mobile apps. We share our hands-on experience migrating production apps and why this is the best move for your business. Modernizing ensures seamless performance, stability, and the ability to leverage the latest .NET features for a competitive edge.

From Xamarin.Forms to

.NET MAUI

What we learned while migrating real production applications and preparing our clients for the future of mobile development.

Over the years, our team has built and maintained several mobile applications using Xamarin.Forms. Like many development teams, we appreciated the ability to share code across Android and iOS while staying within the .NET ecosystem. The framework helped us deliver reliable applications that continue to support businesses and users every day.

When Microsoft announced the end of support for Xamarin.Forms, we started evaluating the best path forward. Rather than waiting for future compatibility challenges, we chose to proactively modernise our clients' applications and begin migrating production projects to .NET MAUI.

Why We Moved

Our goal was simple. Keep applications secure, maintainable, and ready for future Android and iOS platform updates without disrupting day-to-day business operations.

What We Wanted

Protect our clients' investment while taking advantage of the latest .NET technologies and improving long-term maintainability.

One thing became clear very quickly. Migrating to .NET MAUI wasn't simply a framework upgrade. Every application had its own history, custom functionality, third-party integrations, and business requirements that needed careful planning and practical engineering decisions.

Some projects moved across with relatively small changes, while others required deeper architectural updates. Throughout the process, our focus remained the same: preserve stability, minimise disruption, and create a stronger foundation for future development.

For us, moving to .NET MAUI wasn't simply about adopting a new framework. It was about helping our clients protect years of investment while preparing for the future.

As we completed multiple production migrations, we discovered that some aspects were easier than expected, while others presented interesting engineering challenges. The experience taught us practical lessons that we believe can help other teams planning a similar journey.

Every migration taught us something new, and every project made us better engineers.
